Is Bakugan evil? Does it have occult ties? Part 1

For some time now I have been researching the history of various children's games like Bakugan and Pokemon that at first glance appear to harmless, but I have found to be dark in nature. My interest in this peaked, when my grammar school aged son just had to have Bakugan's, because "all the kids at school said that it's awesome".

I want to be clear here...I am not a legalist Christian who believes everything  is satanic, and every issue we have is due to a demon.  In fact I do believe that there is a lot of charlatans out there who make big money "exorcising demons" who were never really there. However, I believe that if your a true Bible believing Christian, you need to consider what type of values this and other similar games are teaching your child.  Not to mention the occult symbolism that is rampant in the cartoon and game. At the very least it's not God honoring, and at could lead a child's curiosity about the occult down a dark and dreary road.   Occult themes are all over the TV, movies, in most of the top selling video games, and becoming the everyday norm with our kids.  Just look at the t-shirts that glorify death with the occultic deaths head skull everywhere you go.  If you don't get out much, just look at the ads at Kohls, JC Penny, Sears or any store that sells teen clothing.
For example:

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness.... Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!" Isaiah 5:20-21

Kids today play, wear, watch and obsorb everything demonic like it's no big deal.  God's word says differently.
"All those who hate Me love death." Proverbs 8:36

Berit Kjos from one of my favorite ministries (Kjos Ministries.) has written a tremendous article loaded with links to help us understand why Bakugan is occult in nature, and can be unhealthy for Christian children. Please take the time to read it through, and use the links to other articles including articles on Harry Potter, Twilight, Pokemon and other dark "entertainment" that our kids are immersed in.
Before you read the article, I want to make a disclaimer to non-believers:  This blog is intended for believers in Jesus Christ to wake up. If you have stumbled upon this post and are not a believer; A) You are welcome here anytime, and if you don't know the Gospel, please see the links above or email me.  B) I do not expect you to understand why Christians see the occult as evil.  I do understand how you would think that what we call "dark" or "evil" in entertainment is normal if you do not believe in Christ.  I used to believe the same way.  In fact, many professed Christians would agree with you, and that is my target audience.

To the Christian parent: I understand this can be a "grey" area for the Christian.   I don't think you or your child are Hell bound if you own Bakugans, or listen to secular music, or watch movies based on the occult. I do however believe that we as believers can do better, and my prayer is that once you understand what scripture says about these things that you may find better choices for you and your child's entertainment.  If, once you understand that God hates what the occult stands for and you choose to continue making it a steady diet of your free time,  then I would say there is cause for concern and would suggest examining yourself to see if you are truly in the faith.

Please see this article on unconscious learning as well as other articles from Berit Kjos on this subject. You can also click on the label: Occult below for other posts.

Thank you, and now on with the article...

The Rising Darkness in Children's Games
Training kids to love evil more than good
By Berit Kjos - October 22, 2009

"I love anime. I will always love it.... I will not let anyone tell me that the things I hold dear are evil."[2]
"Satan is not simply trying to draw people to the dark side of a good versus evil conflict. Actually, he is trying to eradicate the gap between himself and God, between good and evil, altogether."[3] Ray Yungen, A Time of Departing

Don't play games with the occult! Ouija boards have always invited oppression, but they are far more likely to invoke unwanted "spirits" today. So is the new generation of occult games and videos.
I became aware of this change back in the nineties when a Canadian psychologist called me. He had read Under the Spell of Mother Earth and wanted to share some observations with me. In past years, he said, many women would come to scenic Alberta to do a Native American "Spirit Quest" in search of their personal "animal spirit." Few succeeded. But times have changed, and the "spirits" that now answer the summons are numerous as well as oppressive. Treating the scary symptoms as "multiple personality disorders" is no help at all.
In other words, popular occultism is spreading fast, and the "spirit world" has become increasingly more accessible. [See the reasons here] But few families are equipped to resist it. Contemporary churches offer little or no help. Most simply ignore the danger or endorse the "fun." To avoid offense, the word evil is dropped from their vocabulary.
The main victims of this blindness are children. Unless we teach them to recognize and resist these dangers, many will welcome the darkness. So let's examine the nature and tactics of this very real spiritual war. Bakugan -- a popular game and online anime (Japanese animation) -- is a useful example.
"One day," so the Bakugan story goes, "cards began to fall from the sky and were picked up by kids all over the world. The cards featured different characters, different environments, and different powers. ...these cards actually corresponded to an alternate world called Vestroia."[4]
"...we invented a wicked new game we called Bakugan," explained the leader of Vestoria's young Battle Brawlers. "That's when the power of the cards was revealed. Each one held its own battling beast.... The battles were intense, and if you chose the wrong card, you lost it and the beast inside."[5]
"...the beast inside!"  Those words brought to mind some troubling email letters I've received from embattled teens and young adults. Like the Canadian women, they actually felt as if they had uncontrollable beasts inside. Their descriptions of inner battles -- the nightmarish consequences of obsession with occult role-playing games -- were heartbreaking. They couldn't stop playing -- or block out the frightening images planted in their minds! Nor could they find faithful Christians in their communities who would guide them toward freedom!
Too late, they discovered that the seductive journey into occult bondage is far smoother than the road back out to freedom. Yet, few see the dangers of the following progression:

1. Commanding supernatural power through the imagination.

2. Craving more dark thrills -- while increasingly bored with actual reality.

3. Suffering the mental, emotional and spiritual consequences of trusting the occult.[6]
Post-Christian blindness
The Bible tells us that "the weapons of our warfare are... mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God." (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) Our main weapon, of course, is the "Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God." Our children need to know His Word, then exercise faith in His timeless guidelines. But those truths are fast fading from the public square, and deceptions -- more enticing, acceptable and pervasive than ever -- are filling the gap!
The weapons used by Bakugan warriors are totally contrary to God's ways. Based on the ancient Chinese force called Ch'i, they flow from the same source as every other occult weapon. Ch'i  (or Ki, Prana, etc.) is merely the Eastern label for the spiritual forces once commanded by Canaanite sorcerers, Babylonian magicians, mediaeval alchemists, and secret societies throughout history.[7]
Their magic is linked to the forcefulness of the human will. It involves mental concentration and firm commands that enable occultists to "cast spells" and "do magic" without hesitation or moral consideration.
Magic is easy, according to Wiccan author Starhawk, founder of the Covenant of the Goddess. All it takes is "four basic abilities: relaxation, concentration, visualization, and projection."[8] The last step means projecting energy by moving one's mental images with the human will and imagination.
That's what Bakugan's anime fans learn to do: concentrate, visualize, and then project the power through their beast-filled balls or playing cards. [See picture at the top.]  Starhawk described it well in her book on witchcraft: "To cast a spell is to project energy though a symbol."[8]
To many Western occultists, that empowering "symbol" for invoking and transmitting demonic power is The Tarot (based on the Kabbalah) or other magical cards.
Today's entertainment makes such self-empowering rituals seem more normal than prayer. Young players are continually learning, then practicing, a new worldview -- one that either twists or rejects Biblical Christianity. It's not surprising that this process matches the Marxist formula for social change:

New information that challenges the old beliefs and values

+ practical experience using the new information

= PRAXIS: a transformational strategy based on continual reinforcement and experience.[9]
Together, the mystical images [implanted through the cards and anime] and the ritual actions [repeated again and again through the actual game] become a doorway to occult thinking. With the growing popularity of such thrills, many more children will trade God's truth for capricious powers that appeal to the lusts and ambitions of our fallen human nature.
No wonder these Scriptures have become a reality even in churches around the world:

"You love evil more than good...." Psalm 52:3

"They obeyed not... but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart..." Jeremiah 11:8
The signs and symbols of magicNotice the tension between opposing powers in this description of Bakugan's cosmos:

"Vestroia is a vast dimension comprised of [six]... worlds: Fire, Earth, Light, Darkness, Water and Wind. At the very centre of this universe there are two opposing energy cores: THE INFINITY CORE, the source of all positive energy, and THE SILENT CORE, the source of all negative energy. Throughout history, these two opposing forces had maintained the balance of equilibrium..."[4]
Notice how this philosophy clashes with God's Truth: There is no balance or equilibrium between the eternal Kingdom of our holy God and Satan's temporary domain!
Yet two symbols illustrate the lie: the quartered circle and the yin yang.  You may remember the "sacred circle" of Wiccan and Native American spirituality. Its four dividing lines point from the center to the "spirits" of the north, east, south, and west -- and to the four basic elements: fire, earth, water and wind (or air).
Those "spirits" are similar to Vestoria's spiritual domains. Their connections to China's blend of Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism, and folk religions are described in An Encyclopedia of Religion:

"The eternal oscillation of yin and yang gives rise to the material universe through their Five Agents of Water, Fire, Wood, Metal, and Earth....   The religious movement flourishing from the first century B.C. to the fourth century A.D. ... involved divination, alchemy, and the belief in immortals..."[10]
"Taoism is a rich reservoir of superstitions. It has... incorporated and elaborated divination... fortune telling, witchcraft, astrology, communication with the dead, and many others....  [It ] relies on charms and magic formulas."[10]
Does that remind you of God's warning in Deuteronomy 18:9-14?  It tells us to shun all those practices. Don't even imagine them!

"You shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who ... practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord..."
"They... walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart..." Jeremiah 7:24
Eastern and Western occultism have mingled for at least two millennia. But what used to be a trickle has now become a flood. Even churches are welcoming the mysteries that secret societies and Taoist alchemists once hid so well.
Westerners raised in a "safe" Christian culture tend to discount the source of these powers. America, like Europe, has conveniently shut its eyes to occult realities that faded from sight with the spread of Christianity. Now those dark realities are returning with a vengeance.[11] [See "How the occult is changing the Church"]

Deceptive light and inconceivable darkness
The Bakugan universe is divided into six domains -- each represented by a corresponding symbol. These domains break down into three sets of yin-yang opposites: Fire and Earth, Light and Darkness, Water and Wind [or air]. Each has a corresponding symbol: Red for "Fire" and black for "Darkness." "Light" is linked to a white pentacle inside a circle. These three examples alone should raise concerns about the tempting values taught to young fans:

Fire [Pyrus]: The Red Bakugan. "[Dan is] Obsessed with being the number one Bakugan Brawler in the world... His guardian Dragonoid (...Drago - pictured) is a force to be reckoned.... The Pyrus player will use every avenue open to them to crush you...."
Darkness: The Black Bakugan. "They thrive on battles hidden in the shadows, for this is where they draw their strength.... Once a Bakugan is sucked into the Doom Dimension, there is no coming back.... The bottom line is, Darkus is evil but fun."
Light [Haos]: The White Bakugan. "With this power, the Haos Bakugan have mastered the rare and unique ability to manipulate and control light and energy, leaving their opponents dazed and defeated."[12]
The six symbols are shown in a complex circular symbol similar to an image [pictured here] from a kabalistic Tarot card in a deck designed by the infamous occultist, Aleister Crowley. While Crowley's six discs have different meanings, both of these complex symbols [Bakugan's and Crowley's] place the six discs on the edges of a six-sided hexagon -- a shape common to kabalistic art.[13]
Becoming like "god."
Aleister Crowley was called "the most evil man in the world." This founder of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn defined magic as “the science and art of causing change to occur at will.”[14]
Whose will?
Not God's! The following occult statement describes one of the most devious traps set by the evil one since the beginning of time:

"...unless you make yourself equal to God, you cannot understand God: for the like is not intelligible save to the like.... Believe that nothing is impossible for you....  Mount higher than the highest height; descend lower than the lowest depth. Draw into yourself all sensations of everything created, fire and water, dry and moist, imagining that you are everywhere, on earth, in the sea, in the sky."[15]
Remember what the serpent said to Eve in the garden after tempting her to eat the forbidden fruit:

"You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." Genesis 3:4-5
It was a devious lie! Instead of making her like God, her sin banished her from His presence. By "knowing... evil" experientially, she became an unholy creature who could no longer walk in the presence of our holy God! Satan's lofty promise was actually deadly trap!
Lofty visions are among Satan's most useful tricks. At one point in the Bakugan myth, the evil Naga manages to "absorb" into himself an overwhelming amount of "negative energy." It caused a major "energy" crisis! As a result, the Battle Brawlers faced an assignment of cosmic proportions: "to restore peace throughout the universe!"[16]

What an arrogant suggestion! Yet it supports what children are taught in public schools: it's up to them to save the planet, build unity in diversity, and counter the narrow views of their parents.
In this fantasy world it makes sense for opposing sides -- good and evil -- to join hands in perfect harmony. Like the dialectic process that "frees" group members from Biblical authority and values, this devious message promotes an arrogance that matches the Old Testament description of Satan:

“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!... For you have said in your heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God.... I will be like the Most High.’ Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the Pit." Isaiah 14:12-15
If we choose "other gods" and yield to Satan's temptations, we will surely face consequences. Ponder these warnings:

"They... walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart..." Jeremiah 7:24
" latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons...." 1 Timothy 4:1
"...each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death." James 1:14-15
" it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man." Luke 17:26 [see End Times]
And what was it like "in the days of Noah"?

"...the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.... The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence." Genesis 6:5, 11
What can parents do?

1. Pray for your children's protection, discernment, love for God, and rejection of evil. Pray that they heed God's warnings and memorize His Word.

2. Discuss this list of questions as a family (

3. Memorize Scriptures together -- including this verse: "Father... not as I will, but as You will.” Matthew 26:39

4. "Put on" the armor of God. For --

"...we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day..." Ephesians 6:10-14
"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God..." 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
"The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you..." Deuteronomy 1:30

Thank you. I am a mother to an 8 year old who was asking about these cards. Thank you for putting the information out there for us to be informed. Please have our family in your prayers.

You are most welcome. I feel like most Christians do not take their entertainment choices seriously enough. Our childrens minds are being molded at that age, and these games are loaded with demonic imagery and promote murder and mayhem. Even if there is no such gate to darker things by playing with these type games (and I think there can be)at the very least it is not God honering. Good for you for taking the time to research this, and I ask that you please help spread the word and get parents to think. You can send the article by email or copy and paste a link to this site, which would give them more information on these type things.

Thank you and your family is in my prayers.

Bless you for the kind comments. It's people like you that keep me going. I do wish I had more time for more research myself. Please pray for this little ministry that God would open the eyes of parents so that they will see these toys and movies are more than just that and can have a profound effect on their spiritual well being.

Thanks again,

Here is my response:

Your blindness is ignoring the fact that the Bakugan TV show is actually an allegory about defying Satan. Yes, Satan is in the show, and the show makes no secret of it (Nor do they hide how evil he is) quite clearly. The character "Naga" (Appropriately named after the serpent) is obviously an allegory for Satan the way he tries to steal the godlike powers of the Silent Core, and is then punished and hurled to a torturous realm (The "Doom Dimension"). We are told countless times that Naga is mean, nasty, evil, corrupted, no-good, someone you do NOT want to know, but also powerful and VERY dangerous. The character "Masquerade" fills the role of Mephistopheles and tempts people who already play the game into using it for evil purposes. Once Masquerade sinks his claws into you it is very hard to escape, just like Satan. These corrupted players do Naga's evil bidding with the Doom Card which hurls defeated bakugan into their allegorical hell, literally showing that by doing evil you increase the powers of the Devil.

Fighting against Naga are the well-defined good guys: The battle brawlers including Dan who fight against Masquerade and use the game to convince those lost souls that they have done wrong and get them to repent the evil of Masquerade. The lesson is that not only should you NOT do evil things, but you must stop others from doing evil things as well.

The struggles are not easy and Masquerade is not above doing his own dirty work. Throughout the series the good-guys must deal with such aspects as greed, hesitation, and temptation and be able to transcend their personal vices for the greater good.

Anyone can denounce this show, but a GOOD Christian can use the many positive lessons the show has about resisting evil and helping others resist evil to enrich the lives of their children.

The kids don't care about that Tao mumbo-jumbo, to me the two cores are more like the "Separation of light and darkness" from Page 1 of nearly every bible there is, as it is explained that the two cores were once one and when they were separated that the rest of Vestroia was formed.

I'd say take some of your own advice:

"Woe those who call evil good and good evil."

The idea that you should be Good and resist Evil (In this case resisting a satanic evil) is crystal-clear in this show, so why denounce it?

The truth of the matter is that the kids love the show and the toys, so why not use the many biblical aspects of it to make the bible far more attractive to youths? Use it as a "Gateway" as you so love to call it into the Holy scriptures instead. Is there anything wrong with that?

Kohdok said...

...I read your article a little more an see some other things I could point out. I can also use these as examples of lessons that the show does, in fact, try to teach.

When the article says how "there is no balance or equilibrium between the eternal Kingdom of our holy God and Satan's temporary domain!" It is absolutely right and the show agrees! The balance was there UNTIL Naga (Satan, remember?) showed up and then things went totally crazy! The balance of Vestroia was completely destroyed by Naga, so in fact the domains in Vestroia DON'T balance when Naga(Satan) is around, either. So your observation of God and Satan's domain not being harmonious is spot-on in this case and is in fact a huge plot-point in the show.

Another one: "With the growing popularity of such thrills, many more children will trade God's truth for capricious powers that appeal to the lusts and ambitions of our fallen human nature. " That is exactly the kind of thing that Masquerade does in the show is tempt people to ignore the more good-spirited aspects of the game and instead use the thrilling powers of evil. The show tells us that such thinking is dangerous and wrong.

"In this fantasy world it makes sense for opposing sides -- good and evil -- to join hands in perfect harmony." No it doesn't! Good and Evil are clearly defined and do NOT get along. In the newer series, New Vestroia, an evil man tries to convince the brawlers that it was possible, but quickly demonstrates that he is, in fact, insane with evil and would never be able to get along with the good guys.

Also, interestingly enough: "...each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.", there is a series of episodes in the original series where all of the brawlers are given such a test where they must confront their own personal demons. It is only by RESISTING such temptation that they are allowed to continue. In fact, part of the task involves acknowledging that they have these issues and being able to transcend them is important to success.

So the show has a lot to do with resisting the effects of such powers. Also at the end of the series, the powers of the cores are restored to their proper place with the defeat of Naga(Satan) and the bakugan leave planet earth. They LEAVE. Achieving the ultimate victory in the series causes the violence on Earth to stop and the Bakugan to depart. By defeating the evil of Naga and removing the evil from their hearts, the Brawlers free earth from the violence of the brawls. Only when the Vestals, who truly have become enamored with the forces of Bakugan and have turned it into idolatry with the "Vexos", six powerful Vestals, as their idols, appear again in the second season is the balance once again upset. To sum it up, the show shows that such Idolatry is harmful for all parties involved (Especially for the Bakugan)

Like I have said before, the show actually illustrates and teaches us the same lessons that this article is trying to teach (And claims the show does NOT try to teach).

My friend, I really appreciate your comment on this important subject. I understand your point and will respond in more detail as soon as possible. Unfortunately, my wife broke her arm and my "free time" is shot. I am taking a blogging break so to speak. I need to read your response again with less distractions. One point I would make quickly is that the real Satan is a master at deception, and can play good cop, bad cop, but in the end both roads lead to Hell. Kids get enamored with "good magic" in Harry Potter, Twilight (good Vampires) and these type games/tv shows. When you understand that the one and only God hates them both, then you may understand why this is dangerous to a childs unconcious learning.

I will reiterate that I do not think that a non-chirstian can understand where myself and Berit come from and therefore think it will be difficult to convince you otherwise if you are not a Christian. I can't really tell from your response, so if you would please let me know who you think Jesus is and I hope to follow up with you some more this weekend. Thank you so much for your response, you have given me some things to think about and some more homework.

I'd like to point out the whole "You'll be an abomination of God if you don't practice Christianity"-- What exactly is that supposed to teach kids these days? Keep in mind, that text was written way back when nations were encouraged to be isolated; Today integration and exploration of other cultures is encouraged, not to be feared or demonized.

Telling kids that they are "abominations" because they are accepting other cultures and looking at them, not as "dark" or "evil" but as interesting, with entirely different perspectives on the world-- is wrong. It encourages narrow-mindedness.

Masashi Kishimoto, a very popular manga author currently says it best: "It is foolish to be afraid of the things you do not understand; Fear of the outside world cages us."

As a Christian site, I think it would do you better to actually encourage integration, and not view foreign products as the result of some "demon".
For starters, you twisted the concept of a Yin-Yang; One represents male, the other female and corresponding traits, (i.e perfect duality). That without one the other is unbalanced.
Religion preaches today that the "light" should always be dominant, but that thinking is so terribly incorrect; because if you flood the world with light you become blind to your own wrong-doings. Both light and dark correct one another.

Try to bring a more balanced approach to your articles; shunning other religions by calling them "evil", or slapping christian concepts on religions.... Is just wrong.

Accept culture, expand your horizons, develop new perspectives-- rather than what the Bible tells you.

Thank you for this info. My 6 year old has been playing with Bakugan for about 6 months now. I did not do enough research to begin with and now I wish I had. I found this blog because he is now asking for Pokemon doing research and discovering what that was all about...I decided to go ahead and research more about Bakugan. I am ready to get all of it out of my house. Like I said I wish I had researched more to begin with. I believe Satan can be invited into your home by allowing "things" into your home in which evil can attach itself. With all that being son will be disappointed I'm sure when I make this stuff off limits...are there any good trading cards or Christian games of the sort that I can offer him instead?

my little brothers are obsessed with bakugan, and i thought something was fishy about them. i then stumbled across this article and realized that i was right. how can i get them to stop playing it? they just bought the video game today that i tried to rush them out of the store so they couldnt buy it, but they did anyways. they are 8 and 10. In church today aswell, they were playing with them and i told them to stop and listen, then they gave me an evil glare. my dad then took them away and after the service they both started crying because they wanted them back. im very worried, i've been praying for them daily.

This reply is to both the April 1st and then to the April 2nd comments...

Dear April 1st,

Good for you for researching...these games are definitely not for a 6 year old. Stay strong and don't give in. Just explain the best you can that God hates evil and if God hates it, that we as Christians should too. As for a Christian game, I don't know of one that I would trust...unfortunately the "church" these days is so watered down that they try to make a "Christian version" of everything and usually fail miserably. I recall some sort of card game when I briefly managed a Christian bookstore a few years ago and will research it for you. Just subscribe to this thread by email.

Reply to April 2nd (older brother),

I am proud of you for having the discernment to check into these games. Now that's the kind of older brother these boys need! Keep it up. I hope your Dad laid down the law and explained why this is not a toy that is pleasing to God. There are plenty of other video games that aren't filled with white "good" and black magic. I would share the proper gospel with them by showing them that we are all sinners and that if we repent (turn from our sins) and trust that Jesus paid our sin debt then we will not have to pay for that debt by spending eternity in Hell. If you think that may sound tough for 8 and 10 year old's to understand-it's not. I promise. With that said, I then would explain that anything that displeases God is a sin and continuing to play with the occult is a sin (which means one may not have truly repented-yes we still sin as Christians but there should be a battle against it. We stumble into sin, not dive head first-so the key word is "CONTINUES" TO PLAY ONCE THEY UNDERSTAND-AS IN PLANS OR IS OBSESSED WITH THE OCCULT) It's people who dabble a little with the occult that want more and more "experience" and therefore seek it. Check out the theater and see how playing with the occult turned out for many's not a pretty sight (Link avail on the right side of this site.) Big brother, just keep praying for your little brothers and learn about the full armor of God. Dear Annonymous from January 7th....I apologize for not replying to your post. I recall reading it and publishing it, but my wife broke her arm a week prior and I just didn't get around to replying. With that said, you have a lot in there and I want to do it justice...therefore expect a reply this week. I have to sign off for the evening. Thanks for your patience.

Personally, I believe that all of you are taking this way too seriously. Bakugan won't send your "children" to hell or make them think evil is good. Bakugan is just a game and a cartoon, so the only influence on your "children" is to make them want to buy more of them. Kind of like the "gotta catch 'em all!" from pokemon. You people are just paranoid and as I see, a bit racist as saying that pokemon, bakugan, yugi-oh, and other Japanese anime games are satanic. Please, just lighten up.

PS. Kohdok-nice name choice as defending for bakugans. If i'm correct, Kohdok is the name of a bohrok-a bakugan-like bionicle from Lego (another Japanese toy.)

You are a fool, God does not exist as a single being, but as a collection of being working together to keep ALL forces in balance, the positive and the negative. But Satan is part of God and is not evil, he is part of said collection of beings working to keep our universe in balance. He keeps the negative forces in balance and therefore evil is an illusion created by man. Letting children watch bakugan will not do them any harm, it does not invite demons into your home. Demons must be invited into your home and must be accepted as part of your life before they can harm you, they are negitively charged beings who are attracted to a person's negitive emotions. And to give you some of your own medicine, if God was an all powerfull being why couldn't he just wipe satan out of existance? and his demons along with him? He can't because he would take himself out in the process, for satan is part of god. He needs satan to balance the negitive forces of the universe. Evil is an illusion created by man to give them a reason to fight and quarrel amongst themselves. You may call me evil or say that i am a servant of satan for writing this but i believe you are wrong and you should just let kids be kids, do not impose your belifs on them, treat them as equals, if you see that they have become different let them express themselves. Your so-called God gave us free will, let your children play with bakugan, pokemon, digimon, yugi-oh, or any game they desire. These game bring no ill will with them, they do not represent negitivity or as you call it "evil", they were created by people who wish to give kids a form of entertainment.

I have been a Christian for a few years now, and I'd like to say that so you don't give me the same response of "you are obviously not a Christian" that Kohdok got. I wondered while reading this article if you were overthinking this just a little. For the generation that watches this this show, most of them won't look into it that much. They will see the struggle between good and evil, and see the show as entertainment. The games and the merchandise are no different to them. I also fully agree with the Twilight thing, as Vampires and Werewolves are thought to be demons of some kind. It is obvious that you are correct. However, I believe with Harry Potter and Bakugan, all it takes is some good supervision from parents. Parents are also needed to tell kids that these things are not real.

So, in full conclusion, I think you are overlooking the good points in the series, and also that most kids don't look far enough into the philosophy of the show to notice that it has anything like satanism within it's story plot. The show is for pure enjoyment of the kids, and while they should be explained to that it isn't real, the show should not be ridiculed for it's storyplot.

While your opinion is important to me, so is my own. I stand strong by my beliefs, and think you are overlooking many good points, and looking only at just what you think is wrong with the show. I suppose all it is is your angle of view, but I find it very hard to believe that a child would look that far into it, so they wouldn't take notice and say, "Oh, look. I want to be like them! Everything that they're doing is really cool!" and believe it is cool because it has to do with Satan. Most children would say this because they know that the good guys beat evil in the end, and if anything, I say this means they want to win out against Satan and his evil ways as well. This seems more like a plus then a con to the show.

May God Bless,

Mr. Osiris,
I mean no disrespect, but actually the Bible says YOU are a fool my friend, you believe in a false god of your own making. Nnice name by the way, but I think it is already taken…or is this THE REAL Osiris?

Seriously, I’m glad you posted and I will try to give you a reasonable response. I have a question for y? Where do you get your information? I get mine from a book that has 40 authors from different backgrounds such as Jews, Greeks, a doctor, Kings, fishermen and more. It was written over a span of more than 1,500 years with a common theme. The fall of man and redemption. I will be glad to show you much, much more, but only if you answer me back. WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INFORMATION???

As for demons, they are fallen angels who disobeyed God…and I agree that they must be invited into your home…and Bakugan is a good start at making them feel welcome.

Listen, symbols have meanings and the meaning of many of these symbols represents Satan, witchcraft and the demonic realm. Whether you believe in the Satan and God of the Bible or not, you cannot argue the fact that modern day Satanist use these symbols to represent them. Aliester Crowley and Anton Levey openly used the pentagram and other symbols used within the Bakugan games and TV show. Crowley sacrificed young boys and taught sacrifice to millions, he designed some of these symbols. Do the research…actually click on the Good Fight Theatre youtube preview I have for some Crowley is be continued... -Chris

to Mr. Osiris part 2

Mr.Osiris you of all people should know that symbols have meaning…come on, the sun god??? The all seeing eye??? The pyramid, the upside down pyramid (as above, so below) ???? Need I remind you?

God can and He will destroy Satan and his minions…the ending is already written. You must understand fallen man and sin. Then you may understand why God allows Satan to do what he does. But God is in control. Satan is on a leash…if you are interested I will gladly talk about yours (and my) need for a Savior. We all are guilty of sin before the ONE and ONLY God…

Check out the Gospel at the top of the blog. I will gladly answer questions if you have them.

Mr. Osiris said; “Evil is an illusion created by man to give them a reason to fight and quarrel amongst themselves.”

Chris says; You and Oprah would get along well.

So if someone puts a 45 to your head because he wants to see what it feels like to kill someone and see their brains splattered against the wall, would that be evil or an illusion?

Again, where do you find this information? How do you know it’s true? PLEASE give me your best argument for your worldview, and I’ll give you mine.

Mr. Osiris said; You may call me evil or say that i am a servant of satan for writing this but i believe you are wrong and you should just let kids be kids, do not impose your belifs on them

Chris says; Are you imposing your beliefs on me? treat

Osiris says; treat them as equals, if you see that they have become different let them express themselves.

Seriously…Are you imposing your beliefs on me (how about those kids)? Are you telling me (or the kids) how we should live? Oh the hypocrisy…They are children, they need guidance and supervision, they haven’t earned the right to be equal yet…this why they don’t drive.

Let them do as they please, just express themselves? I know of a kid who was different and he liked to shoot .22 rifles at passing cars or the one who dropped a large rock from a bridge and smashed a lady’s head in on the interstate below for the fun of it… is he just expressing himself? Oh yeah, that’s just an illusion…That’s what happens when you let kids do what they want.

Mr. Osiris, if you are serious, please answer my questions and I will share more with you. I care about you, and I don’t want you to die some day and find out you were wrong. You don’t want to fall into the hands of The Living God without the blood of Jesus Christ covering you. I promise. You may email me privately if you like.

Thank you for taking time to read and comment. I would like to respond firstly by saying I did not say that Kohdok was not a Christian. Here is my exact comment verbatim:

" I will reiterate that I do not think that a non-chirstian can understand where myself and Berit come from and therefore think it will be difficult to convince you otherwise if you are not a Christian. I can't really tell from your response, so if you would please let me know who you think Jesus is and I hope to follow up with you some more this weekend. Thank you so much for your response, you have given me some things to think about and some more homework."

But Mr. Kohdok did not respond as to who he says Jesus is, and based on his knowledge of Bakugan, I would say he has a vested interest in the shows success or at the very least a serious idol and too much free time. It amazes me how serious people take the Bakugan thing. The ones who say it is no big deal, are eat up with Bakugan facts and will defend it to no end...yet they say "it's just a show" or it won't get into their head, yet IT IS in their head and MORE than a show to them. They prove my point. As a Christian you understand that the 2nd commandment is to have NO idols before me...An idol isn't just a statue or carved idol, it's anything that we put above God. Well my guess is that he does just that. Continued in next post...

Reply to Yani continued...
I have not heard back as to who he says Jesus is...I pray that he replies so we can continue the conversation.

Yes kids should be told that Harry Potter and Bakugan are fiction, but my concern is the amount of occult centered entertainment that our kids digest these days. One or two hours of church a week can't combat 20 hours of God Hating music with occult overtones such as Lady Ga Ga and Rihanna. (See Vigilant for more details on that.) Then a couple of horror movies and one on black/white magic movie, throw in a few hours of dark and satanic filled video games then wa-la! The kid could care less about who died on the cross for their sins. The point Yani is that these are poor choices for Christian children. Garbage in-Garbage out. And I will post some things later that show how obsessed (or possessed in some cases)these kids are... it isn't pretty.

You said; and also that most kids don't look far enough into the philosophy of the show to notice that it has anything like satanism within it's story plot,

Yani, how do you know they won't notice or look into it? We can't assume that the kids are safe from that influence...if it's there it's there and developing minds don't need to be exposed to it.

You also said; I find it very hard to believe that a child would look that far into it, so they wouldn't take notice and say, "Oh, look. I want to be like them! Everything that they're doing is really cool!"

Yani, did you really read Kohdok's post? That is a kid (maybe a young adult) who has looked that far into them. He is obsessed with the show/game. My point exactly.

Another quick point...The Bible says Satan can come as an angel of light, meaning we must be on guard at all times. By calling white/black magic fantasy games and TV good we are only fooling ourselves. Remember God warned us.

I just wanted to thank you for this Critique. We had to make a decision to not go to a child's bday party because the theme was Bakugan. We appreciate this information that confirmed our suspicion about this ideology that is directed at our children.

Here is something for Christian parents to consider. The Word of God should be our guide...not "Open-mindedness"

[Proversb 22:5]
Train up [H2596] a child [H5288] in the way [H1870] he should go [H6310]: and when he is old [H2204], he will not depart [H5493] from it.
Definition of the word "TRAIN UP"

H2596 חָנַך chanak (khaw-nak') v.
1. (properly) to narrow
2. (figuratively) to initiate or discipline
[a primitive root]
KJV: dedicate, train up.
Now Narrow-mindedness makes sense scripturally.

Praise God for His word

Dear Chris

Praise God for your ministry in uncovering the subtile sly plot of the enemy. Our children are so exposed to the cunning enticements of satan, which the majority of 'discerning' christian gloss over so innocently. Sin is not innocent - Gods Word makes it very clear - the wages of sin is death, similarly He warns us that in the end timse many will be decieved!! How ironic !! That so many of the respondents to your blog have so voiciferously expressed their deception!!The Father also goes on to say in His Word that many have been called, but few are chosen - for exactly this reason - COMPROMISE!! Too many of His so called children do not have a perspective on eternity. Eternal life has a price to pay - we pay that price here on earth by NOT compromising or allowing the enemy into our homes through this type of infiltration. John Bevere has a fantastic book - Enemy Access Denied, it is time for Gods children to deny enemy access into our lives, and childrens live though whatever means he comes - satan is not innocent - he is a cunning master of deception.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for all your hard work information you have given us. Growing up as a christian, I thank God for my parents who raised us up to watch everything we watched or bought into our homes. So many people even "Christians" do not understand how the devil works and his schemes for this world. They don't understand that this is his world, he is the king of this World that we live in. He's been in here for more then we have been living in this world. He will do whatever he can to trick us. Even shows like Bakugan, Pokeman, Harry Potter, Anime, etc, are forms of his methods to not try to get us adults to watch them, but our kids who are so innocent. You know it's funny when you hear parents defending these shows, books, comics. I know of this one teenage girl who I found out she was reading so much of this Anime, Yaoi and Yuri stuff and she was even dressing up like those characters. Researching all of this I find out that it's all sexual, something to catch our teenagers attention and not only is it sexual, but it is gay and lesbian stuff. It broke my heart and I even spoke with her parents. To find out that her mother was the one who bought her these comics/book and then while talking to the parents, they told me that it was ok to be gay and lesbian and that there is nothing wrong. These are so called "Christians". I was shocked!

Now some may say, well it's only little kids, they won't get to that point. Life is so rapid, we as parents are more and more busy because of work, church, etc. This is how the enemy works, it's an open doorway for him to come to our homes and start his process. And alcoholic doesn't become an alcoholic overnight, it takes time for him to get there. Bill Gates did not become a billionnaire overnight, it took years. My point is that once the doorway is opened, the devil starts working and you will not notice an instant change (in some cases yes), but it will take time. So parents, as a mother myself, please research what your children are watching. You might think it is harmless but that's a lie from the enemy.

Chris said...

Thank you for the comments and the great in site. You are correct in all that you say. It's a slippery slope and our enemy uses all forms of media and entertainment as his tools for changing ours children's world-view to his. We must guard their hearts and pay attention to what they watch, play and listen to.

Chris why did you even think a bout posting this? the lord and jesus would never hate anything or anyone. yes they may get angry but they are more forgiving then you think. i believe that only a bad 30-year old person may figure it out but never try it, but i read your post and decided to watch a show to see if your right. you were wrong. the last show the evil naga, (or satan) lost. so it shows that the lord and jesus would be very happy about that. and explain if they hated it, would that mean that they hate seeing them win? but do you really think a 8-10 year-old kid would even think its from satan, or satan evil? i say no one should listen to this mumbo-jumbo cause 1 person thinks its evil. abd who knows, a servant from satan can read the bible, and pokemon completly hides it if it was the work of satan. a 30 year old couldnt figure it out. so if you try to convince these people that it is evil and your saying your doing good then woe is those who call evil good and good evil? f you dont like bakugaun then shut the web site down, and take the bakugaun away from your kids, but dont go around telling 10's of people bakugaun is evil. and everyone who reads this post please, would the lord and jesus really hate them losing or satan losing? (which satan losing was in the show)dont try to be good because what your doing is if any kid found this site they would get the idea. remember if your so good,,, woe those who call evil good and good evil. and i'm just telling the truth. I will pray to the lord and jesus tonight and see if i am right. the lord may never hate, may get upset but never hate anything or anyone. plus to ad to that i will give my kids bakugaun and never think they will become one with satan. they'll out grow it by fifteen. and if your saying this is evil you call ever movie, show, commercial, toy and ad out there is evil. dont convince people, cause you will be just like bakugaun. and you can even pray to the lord and ask him. is bakugaun evil. is it a demons work from satan? you know its true and i know. dont convince. bad things will end up in your future. words from not a chistian but a true heart worthy mormon. and this mormon trusts and knows the lord will never hate. the shadow man.people dont beleive chris! do you really think things never die?! harry potter, twilight,POKEMON AND BAKUGAUN?! those things will die out from your kid and no longer be tempting!

and why would you ever even make this? keep it to your self! and why would you say yor relegion? to 10"s of people!?

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your comments. To be honest I don't quite understand all your points, but I gather you don't see the harm in playing these games or watching these shows. Your probably right in the sense of playing it a few times or watching it a couple of times. I thought I made that VERY clear. The problem is that many kids are obsessed with these type games and they are replete with occult symbolism, which means that the makers believe in the occult, and if you read in Deuteronomy, God does indeed HATE the occult practices... Deuteronomy 18 verse 10"There shall not be found among you anyone (J)who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one (K)who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11or one who casts a spell, (L)or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
12"For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD. I challenge you to go through the Bible and read every verse concerning occult practices, then watch the show and tell me you don't see these things being glorified.

Most "slasher" movies kill the bad guy at the end, but do you think God approves of senseless violence for entertainment? No.

Why is the Wiccan religion booming right now? My guess would be the Harry Potter books and movies have influenced many children....don't believe me? Go to HP fansites and see. Please read other articles I have posted on the occult and come back to me. I have said all along non-Christians will not understand this. You are a Mormon who believes in a completely different God and Jesus, therefore I do not expect you to see the Christian worldview. My question to you is what happens to you when you die and you have not earned your way to Heaven? Are you good enough to get there. Take the good person test and let me know how you did, and if you have any questions PLEASE email me back.

Dear Chris,

Thank you for posting this research. I am devastated for those ignorant of these things. God tells us in His word, "Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." Don't people realize that this includes our children?

The Bible is clear that we must die to self. It can be difficult to give up our worldly passions and pleasures. However, after doing so, one will discover true joy in living. As you said, a non-christian cannot understand these concepts.

Instead of relying on our "feelings" or our childrens' social lives, we ought to seek God's word for instruction.

Praise God for those who seek to glorify and honor Him.

Chris said...

Thank you Christine for the encouragement. You are exactly right about trusting "feelings" and trusting the ONLY trustworthy source for truth, and that is the inspired and sufficient word of God. We would do well to remember that he is unchanging, and just because God stated that the occult practices are an abomination in the O.T. does not mean that this isn't true for today in our culture. If you glorify these things then you are going against his word. Plain and Simple. Keep up the good fight Christine!

First of all I'm not a Christian dot! However you may or may not know that for many years TV shows and internet have gone global and we watch the same shows and read the same things all over the world. And our kids get influenced just the same. I got 2 kids watching nickelodeon almost all day. Let me get to the point straight. My big son never liked to sleep in his own room & bed but at least we'd managed to persuade him to do so at least 5 nights-a-week. For the last 4-5 months we almost never could make him go & sleep in his own bed and he was rejecting furiously whenever we tried to do so. So everynight after he completely doses off - that's 2:00 am in the morning mind me - my wife & I take him to his room and then we can actually sleep. Uhm...try to sleep, because after an hour or so he appears near our bed out of the blue like Nosferatu-in-the-night to beg to be accepted to the bed again and knowing he won't make us sleep otherwise we let him in. (and let me out to his bed) This night before, deciding that we've had enough of this we refused his coming back but couldn't resist more when we saw that he was almost having attacks of crying that he couldn't sleep alone. I - in that moment - realized that this not-sleeping-alone has started after him playing Bakugans obsessively for a couple of months. I even know him saying to me - how he wished only if Preyas could be alive like in the TV show whenever he summoned him and that he is his best friend and he sometimes talks to him as if he was real. Goosebumps? Yeah! So I said to him "OK you can come to our bed but then you won't be allowed to play with your Bakugans cause I think since you started playing with them you seem to be afraid of sleeping alone" Oh! I guess I said something really wrong: another seizure like crying attack, cause he wants to come to our bed but cannot do without playing them so he is paralised with undecidedness! So, we let him back to ponder on this in the day-time. So being a conspirational type for years and knowing about the satanic influences in rock-pop music (I'm a musician too by the way:)) and in movies books, medicine and so on, it didn't take long for me to stumble upon your blog. (and found things here that I feared to find) So people, I would be interested to hear others talking about the same things or maybe it's just obsessive-kid-playing but I'm more inclined to this blog's writer's ideas especially after reading the big-corporate-hand-shakings to start this Bakugan-line. May God help the kids and us. And please don't make this Chriatians & others like Bush saying either you're with us or against us, we are all children of God.

Kohdok said...

This is Kohdok again.

Ah, sorry for not getting back to you on that. In my opinion, Jesus is an important teacher who taught us many lessons about how we should live our lives, that we should be good people and respect others until we truly can judge their character. That we should not fall victim to exploitation or be exploiters, ourselves. Jesus taught us many lessons of tolerance and the many miracles he performed were from not only his own love but also the love of God. Whether or not one calls him divinity, his messages of love, tolerance, and understanding are still important messages that people should remember. Religion is not a thing used to spread fear and hate, but of love and understanding.

I do object to being called a child, however. I am actually about to leave college. Though I might interpret the show more deeply than someone my age probably should, I still question the article which has observations that border on madness and pulls factoids from places I would never have connected to the show. Pretty much all of my information comes from the show itself, the Bible(mostly old testament when referring to Satan), and specifically the play "Dr. Faustus" when referring to the Mephistopheles-like character "Masquerade".

If its any consolation, the sequel series "New Vestroia" features villains and tyrants who were seen as idols in their community until their corruption and the evils they performed(using their status as idols as an edge) were revealed and they were driven out, with their quest for revenge ending in their destruction. Sure, there's idolatry and materialism in the show, but it's the villains who have those attributes. The bad guys. The people the kids are supposed to be booing at, and obvious notes are given to that. As for the Darkus attribute, a heroic character uses a Bakugan modeled after a Gargoyle(See: Notre Dame) and named for Percival, one of the Knights of the Round Table and possesses a knightly air to him.

I've read Genesis. God called the light good, but did he ever call the dark bad? No. He called it "Night" and painted it with beautiful stars. I can't imagine he thought it would be used for evil when he created it, or he never would have. The idea behind the attributes is that (Like your Angel-Satan and my Percival) Light and Darkness have an equal capacity for good and evil. There have been good Dark bakugan(Like Percival) and evil Light Bakugan(Like Lumagrowl). With your Angel-Satan as an example, image isn't everything.

A major theme in the show is that greed brings civilization to its knees. The recent series "Gundalian Invaders" features a group (villains) called the "12 orders" whose group hemorrhages from within due to how poorly they act. Greed, Wrath, Pride, Sloth, Envy, all of it's there and because all of the 12 orders follow their own agendas and drown in such sin that they end up in such a state of madness that they end up destroying each other rather than the heroes. The heroes only have to step up when there's only one of them left after the rest of the 12 orders all back-stabbed each other.

Pretty much all the examples of traditional darkness(In the evil sense) in Bakugan is either a roadblock that the heroes have to overcome or the villains become consumed by. It is often the villain's lust for power or wealth combined with their pride that brings about their downfall.

I'll again decry the posted article as little more than senseless demagoguery that will only serve to drive people away from Christianity with its madness and I will again champion the notion that there are opportunities to teach The Good Word in nearly everything on this Earth, if one knows where to look.

Chris said...

Thanks for replying back. Let me begin by saying that I was not referring to you as a kid in my reply. I apologize if you took it that way. I was referring to children in general, who are not old enough to discern between real and make believe. THAT is part of the concern here-the other concern is below. Children are exposed to occult & anti-God themes constantly. From their music, to movies, television, and popular books. It doesn’t take much research to find that the most popular kids books & movies (Twilight & Harry Potter), are occult themed. When you throw in popular music about pre-teen sex, drugs and alcohol as the norm, then they play video games blowing off other peoples heads for fun, you have a recipe for disaster. Take some time and watch the documentary Hells Bells two at my other blog and let me know what you think-it goes into detail concerning these things. Follow this link and start at part 1's%20Bells%20Documentary

AGAIN watching an episode or two of Bakuagan, or watching the movie Twilight or reading a Harry Potter book or two does not make one a child of Satan. But a steady diet from all of these different pop culture avenues can influence a young mind. If that child is raised in a Christian home, this can be a powerful subversive tool by the REAL Satan to undo what has been taught. What doe’s make on a child of Satan? We get our answer from the book of 1st John.....(not the gospel of John but 1st John-yes the answer is in the gospel of John too, but I am being specific to 1st John). Keep reading to see what I mean.

I realize you are a fan of the series, and game and I see the “good vs evil” that can be taught from it, but I can think of a million different ways to teach my child other than a show/game that is replete with occult symbolism that desensitizes him to what those symbols stand for. Kohdok, please read other reply's I have made for more on that. Read the article on Christians and the occult posted on this site. My concern for those children and young adults-such as yourself-is their salvation. You say Jesus was a good teacher, but do you understand that he claimed to be God; the creator of the universe. “Good teachers” don’t claim to be God. He’s either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord. I wouldn’t trust someone who makes these claims, UNLESS it were true. But I do trust him...I believe it is true that Jesus Christ is the son in the Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit-one God revealed in three persons. And if he is, he has ownership of us, and we need to see what he says about the dark and demonic. The Bible is clear that he hates it. Read the Bible verses that I posted that pertain to the occult and see what Gods says. Many people make up a God of their liking, and this is a FALSE idol. They say, “My God is ALL love and forgiving”...meaning I can live like I want and he will forget about it. “My God doesn’t send people to Hell”...meaning much the same. God says that all liars, murderers and thieves will have their part in the lake of fire. So that means WE are ALL guilty before him, unless you are perfect! We all have lied, stolen, lusted and broke Gods laws-numerous times daily. We are guilty. Someone has to pay the price for that sin. That payment we owe will be eternal death separated from God’s love, and receiving his wrath in an eternal Hell. If we are not a child of God, then we are a child of Satan-hence 1st John. be continued in next post...I use to many words total-again.

Chris said...

part two to Kohdok....

But Kohdok, do you know what happened two thousand years ago so that you DON’T have to pay that price? Jesus came to earth as a man, to live the perfect life in our place. He was hung on a cross to die a horrible death, but worse than that he bore God’s wrath for every foul thought and deed we ever committed. He defeated death by rising from the grave, and because of that we can be seen a righteous before God the Father-IF we repent (turn away from our sin) and ask him for forgiveness by admitting we are not good, and then put our trust in him by following his commands revealed in scripture. Yes we will still sin....but we don’t plan for and dive into that sin. We may trip into sin, but we strive to do better. We do that by going to church and being around other Christians and filling our mind with scripture. We make Jesus our focus, and not the occult. We are to hate the things God hates, and love the things he loves. Kohdok, please reconsider what you find to be sacred, and put your eyes on Jesus and what he did for you if you will repent. Man, it’s not about Bakugan, or any of the other site is to wake up fellow believers who think that God doesn’t care what they read, watch or listen to; and to share the Good News with those who don’t know it! I challenge you to read the book of John (The gospel of John) in the New Testament for a better understanding-it’s far more exciting than Bakugan and the likes. Kohdok, I pray that you will take this seriously, and consider who Jesus REALLY is. If I’m wrong then who cares, but if I (speaking for the Bible) am right, then you must stand before your creator and give account for your life. I don’t want you to look back at this and regret not taking it seriously. Don’t delay, we are not promised tomorrow, and there are no second chances. I will be praying for you.

You have your good points in your argument. But Kohdok has the right idea. You in your attempt to steer others away from the path of darkness are using the bible as a means of power to sway and control others' way of thinking. I believe you need to pay more attention to the passage of seeing good as evil and evil as good. Think on what you are truly trying to do and realize your faults.

Chris, thank you for your hard work in making this information available. I had not heard of Bakugan until I was at someone's house and it hit me wrong.... I wish I could describe it. I felt it was demonic in the spirit realm. I found the name of the balls and tried to find out about it and was unsuccessful until I saw your link in a forum somewhere. I would say more, but I can't. Just know that I was involved in the occult. The devil tried to steal my soul and it was only by shouting out Jesus' name was I able to escape. My biggest concern is that people in church do not think there is anything wrong with Bakugan and the like.

The Bible OFFERS salvation. It is NOT a means of power to sway and control others. Just because some have used religion to do so does not make the message of Jesus Christ one and the same.

He offers forgiveness of sins, and if you read the post to Kohdok closely and quit using the same old tired lines that YOU got from a BOOK that some MAN wrote to convince yourself b that there is no God so you can live in a lifestyle opposed to His.

God asks us to have the fruits of the, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Where do you get that the Bible teaches control ones way of thinking? Have you read it? Do you know it's message. My friend, you will face your maker one day, and you will have to give an account for your life. Today is the day of salvation. Take the advice I gave Kohdok, and put up the Richard Dawkins books. Repent and Trust Jesus Christ....and no I'm not forcing my "religion" on you. I'm just obeying Jesus command to go into all the world and share the Good News! By the way....were you judging me and "forcing" forcing your religion of man on me? -Chris

While writing about the fruits of the, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. It made me want to ask Christians who are NOT opposed to Bakugan, Are there ANY of these attributes found in this game/tv show? If not why allow it to influence the development of your childs mind? I see hate, sadness, murder, meaness, chaos, and NO self control when I have watched the show, and the idea of the game is much the same. I have said you or your child is not damned to Hell because you play or have played this game, but WHY? As a Christian we are to give God glory, and I can find MANY better ways to do so. -Chris

Dear Anonymous Feb. 18 9:27,

Thank you, and you are not the only one to have a similar experience. I'm cautious when I read some stories on the net etc....but I do know these things happen. God bless you, and we will be praying for you.

LOL this article was good for a laugh. Bakugan is stupid but it's certainly not evil, if anything there are some pretty good (albeit EXTREMELY corny) themes in the show, such as friendship, enduring hardships, and never giving up.

You people who take this stuff are honestly nut jobs, which is your choice. But for the love of God don't force this insanity on your children who are just trying to enjoy a children's show.

There are a lot of seriously evil things in this world that were created as a direct result of religion. If Bakugan is the best that the occultists and devil worshippers can conjure up then they can consider themselves outdone.

Chris said...

Sure there is a lot more evil things going on in the world, and many have been pointed out on this and my other blog, and Bakugan is not the "best the occultist can conjure up"...the point is the symbolism used is directly connected to said occultist and the game/show is a gateway to the occult. Many children will want more and more and there are websites associated with Bakugan that can take them down a darker road. As I have said before, I do not expect someone who is not a Christian to understand that this. That doesn't change the fact that God hates occult practices, and this game/show is kindergarten for the occult.

I used to watch Poke'mon when I was a kid. I did not once think of Poke'mon as evil. I did not want to worship them and follow what they do. I still watch the show Naruto and what I get from that show is to keep trying, never give up on a friends or your dreams, and it gives an overall confidence in my everyday life. After watching it I feel like I can live my dreams. I think it depends on the type of kid that's watching the show for what they get out of it.

I watched shows like Poke'mon and Yugioh when I was a kid. I turned out fine. If anything, I turned out too nice. I do not enjoy picking on people's feelings at all, it's wrong. When people asked me if I thought of the occult or something when I was a kid Trick or Treating, I said that I never thought about it once until someone said that Halloween was evil. I didn't think anything of it though.

I am a Christian, I do not think this is a bad show at all. Didn't expect that, did you? Just stop this nonsense! It's a harmless kid's show. I never once thought of doing anything evil when watching shows like this. I thought of helping my friends and chasing after my dreams.

Dear Anonymous (last three comments),

This post never says that you would turn out "evil" if you watch any of these shows. However, you say you still watch Naruto and it makes you want to "follow your dreams" right. As Christians we need to examine how much time we watch ANY show and follow it's doctrine of "follow your dreams" (which is not taught in fact the opposite is taught. We must deny ourself and follow Christ). So even if we don't do what we perseive as "evil" murder, rape etc....these shows teach self. Do what YOU want, not what the Bible teaches. Satan doesn't care if you or I do "good" things, or don't do "evil" things, as long as we don't follow the one true God. Please see other responses to reader comments to see the gospel message on true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

Also, I will be doing a post on Naruto soon. What little time I have spent watching this show, I have found it very eerie. These characters continually look and act as if they are possessed. Lot's of symoblism that represents withcraft etc. Please don't let these shows dictate your life.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God Who saved me, a sinner, from the evils of Hell.

Might I suggest Romans 14? "...One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only. The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him.... I know and am convinced in (through) the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.... Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of (blasphemed) as evil;... The faith which you have, have as your own conviction (according to yourself) before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves." Basically, do not dogmatically speak either way of something that the Bible does not explicitly speak about, for there are those whose consciences convict them about those things due to a weakness in a related sin, and there are those whose consciences are OK with those things, and God accepts those people. On the flip side, sometimes things can become an obsession. 1 Corinthians 10:23 says, "All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify." This means, sure it may not be WRONG to do certain things (such as Bakugan/Twilight/HP/Pokémon/Yu-Gi-Oh!/Naruto), but it's not necessarily RIGHT either... or rather, there are better things you could be doing with your time, so don't overdo it.

Kyohaku Keisanki,

Thanks for your post. First things first...are you judging our judging?
We are allowed to judge other Christians rightly (see the article on judging from a Biblical perspective-the link is where the Judge is pointing).

I agree that the Bible teaches that there are "grey" areas that are not necessarily "right" or "wrong". However, just because the Bible doesn't explicitly speak of Bakugan's does speak of forbidding occult practices in Deuteronomy 18:9-14. There are numerous passages calling believers to expose evil. Ephesians 5:11 comes to mind. Please look at the other verses in the article that we quoted. Bakugan is occult 101 for kids, it is indirectly using occult symbolism which has meaning and can lead to bigger things. Please read some of the links regarding the occult.

This article is suggesting (like you said) that our Christian children should find more productive things to do. NOT that if they play this they are Hell bound. I have made this abundantly clear when posting to other readers. Please take the time to read those comments and please feel free to respond.

Thanks again.

In Christ,

Okay, here's a comment coming from a fifteen year old Christian girl who actually plays/watches Bakugan. From what I know, the main demographic for these Bakugan toys is from around 4/5 years old to 8 years old probably. I seriously doubt that kids of that young of an age will actually read into the speculated meaning of these toys. I didn't even connect the dots until I came across this article.

That being said, Bakugan is first and foremost an anime and a game. A typical one at that: a group of kids must defeat a powerful being in order to save the world/some other dimension/universe etc. Just look at Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon, Chaotic, and the abundance of other toy-based show franchises. It simply gives children a healthy escape outlet. I remember the first time I watched Bakugan, I was completely enthralled by the strange world (and this is coming from one of the girliest girly-girly around). I found it exciting how the Battle Brawlers had such good hearts, and were eager to brawl. The show allowed me to have half an hour to pretend that I could save Earth and Vestroia from Naga, and that I too could be the number one battle brawler.

That does not, however, mean that I am going to prance down the sidewalk, throwing my Bakugan in front of every child I encounter demanding a brawl, thinking that I am the Ultimate Brawler.

I understand and respect your qualms about the Bakugan universe, but in my humble opinion, I don't think it's all that bad really.

Yes, perhaps I'm slightly biased because I like Bakugan; and yes, maybe I feel the way I do because I'm young and I have more to learn about God, but I still have to go back to my first statement:

Bakugan is just a show.

If all television was so realistic and so accurate in every single way, we wouldn't really have TV, now would we? The reason why we tune in is because we are offered an escape. If shows were so true-blue, we would just be watching real life.

All that being said, I simply think that the Bakugan-verse should be taken lightly. I completely understand if you are strongly against, and what it supposedly teaches/implies to the young ones, but ask yourself this:

Do you think the children playing with the Bakugan have the same thoughts you do? Do they believe that they are channeling some sort of Satanic power (please excuse my wording)? Or are they just having fun? Obviously, if they begin to truly believe that they can save all mankind, there's a problem. But I have a feeling that that's highly unlikely to happen.

And here's another thing: Bakugan is usually a phase. As some other hot new show and toy franchise rolls around, they kids' will probably become disinterested in their Bakugan, and pick up on the newest fad.

Yep, so... That's pretty much it! I sincerely hope my comment did not offend anybody, it was not meant to.

(Bakugan brawl!)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST. My younger son have been waking up with nightmares around 3 or 4 a.m. in the morning. The holy spirit prompted to watch the show Supernatural today, the show was entitled Let Our Children Go and outline some issues kids had been having with unwanted spirits entering homes through movies, music, etc. One being a little girl who could not sleep at night. While in the process of getting rid of anything where evilness might want to seep through in my home. My mind fell on oldest son Bakugan collection, he has every Bakugaun and cards in the book. I sincerely thought they were just toys I was buying. However examining the cards and design of the toys, they seemed a bit dark so this is what prompted to begin researching. The collection is on the way to the trash. There was some horror and Power Ranger movies in the house that went to the dumpsters today. As Christians, you don't ever want to give the devil any outlet within your home or your kids. There is a attack to get our next generation of Christians (who are kids now) through all kinds of outlets. Its better to be safe than sorry. I urge everyone to cleanse your home today. devil you do not win. I rebuke, In the name of Jesus all and every stronghold that satan is attempting and have on our next generation of Christians, kids and every adult. I pray that parents wake up and realize it is just not child's play! TO GOD BE THE GLORY.

This blog article was an answer to a prayer. My 7yr old son has been experiencing some stark differences in his behavior at home, school and daycare lately. As I was helping him straighten his room tonight a Bakugan card caught my attention, so much so that I held it in my hand and kept it even though my son tried to get it back. We have been seeing this "beast within" type of anger / rage / rebellion in our son and it's been more frequent and less controllable.

After he went to sleep I started looking up this game and found this research. Thank you and thank God! Christian parents have to watch out for their children. Thanks to this information, now we can do a better job.

People look at the world today, through the news and what not and say where is going to end. I think the question should be where does it begin? It may be that we have a real problem pleasing the Lord. By man's standards many of us are "good", but isn't it true that even the best of us have a wicked heart. What does it take to be considered a Murderer. You might do good works your whole life but in one minute you can earn such a dubious title. How much more true is that of thieves and liars. So then who is good. The bible says it simply. Only God is good.
