Already Gone: Why Kids Are Quitting Church

This is a picture of me with Todd Friel from "Wretched Radio" (if your not listening to the show you need to)...and yes I'm almost as "freakishly tall", but I believe I do have a few pounds on him. I just want to say that Todd is the "real deal" and walks the talk. On behalf of our crew of six from Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Knoxville, I want to extend a BIG thank you to Mr. Mister Friel, Ken Ham and all the folks who worked so hard behind the scenes for the "Wretched" Creation Vacation at the Creation Museum. It was fantastic...We learned so much! I came away with a lot and plan on sharing what I can here on the blog. I want to start with promoting the following book: Already Gone: Why Kids Are Quitting Church

Statistics reveal a huge disconnect taking place between our children and their church experience

Nationwide polls and denominational reports are showing that the next generation is calling it quits on the traditional church. And its not just happening on the nominal fringe; it’s happening at the core of the faith.

In the first scientific study of its kind, the “Beemer Report” reveals startling facts discovered through 20,000 phone calls and detailed surveys of a thousand 20–29 year olds who used to attend evangelical churches on a regular basis, but have since left it behind.

The results are shocking:

* Those who faithfully attend Sunday School are more likely to leave the church than those who do not.
* Those who regularly attend Sunday School are more likely to believe that the Bible is less true.
* Those who regularly attend Sunday School are actually more likely to defend that abortion and gay marriage should be legal.
* Those who regularly attend Sunday School are actually more likely to defend premarital sex.

In this powerful book, popular author Ken Ham and consumer behavior research/analyst C. Britt Beemer combine to reveal trends that must be dealt with now . . . before we lose another generation!

The trends are frightening, but Already Gone shows how to win back our families, our churches, and our world!

For more on this book please listen to the following podcast from Cross Talk America.

Last week, Brannon Howse hosted this edition of Crosstalk with Ken Ham, author of the new book, Already Gone: Why Kids Are Quitting Church. The show raised some interesting issues about the statistically proven loss of young people from Christian churches.

You can't afford to NOT read this book...for your childs sake, please at least listen to the podcast then decide if you want to read the book. Then if you see the importance of this topic, I encourage...no I BEG you to share with your church leaders. The battle for your childs mind does have eternal consequences. And friends...we are LOSING the battle!

Personally I see this as the fruits of not preaching against contraception. You can pretty much tie everything back to this rejection by Reformed Christians in the early 1900s. There was almost a total rejection of Catholic Church doctrine on the matter by Catholic Bishops in the 1960s. We are seeing a fallout in abortion, mass products of contraception which are all related. Sex for fun has been highly circulated in mainstream television and even among people who call themselves Christian. We have helped create this atmosphere. All early Church Fathers were consistent on this topic form what I have read. Now, are children really treated as a blessing?
